Description

Viking ear cleaner found, for example, in Birka (Björkö) in graves 38 and 523.

This detailed replica is made according to the model of a historical find from the Viking city of Birka in the Swedish lake Mälaren.

Hygiene needs were an indispensable part of women's clothing in the Viking Age. Ear and nail cleaners therefore find themselves in Viking settlements in many different forms.

The earplug, nail cleaner, and tweezers were often attached to a long chain or leather strap hanging on the turtle brooches of women's clothing and hung down from there to the height of their belts.

It is a perfect demonstration that people of that time took care of themselves and were not the dirty barbarians that many TV shows and films show us....
