Description

Belt fittings were very popular in the Viking Age from Sweden and Gotland, through Kievan Rus to Hungary, and this fashion did not pass by the period of Great Moravia.

Finds are known on plain leather belts as well as those that are well stitched together from several layers. There are larger quantities where belts have been wholly beaten, as well as cases where only a few pieces have been found on a belt. Similarly, we know of belts composed of several different fittings.

We have many finds of complete belt sets, ranging from the plain ones, made of only one piece of metal, to the elaborately decorated ones, gilded, made of silver plate, with tausia, filigree and other decorations.

We currently offer solid cast brass belt studs in silver plated brass and brass versions. A full belt with buckle and end cap and studs can also be made by prior arrangement.

How to apply the decorations. Bend the shanks of the ornaments slightly in the centre and mark the imprint on the leather. You can then pierce the lace with an awl. Simply tap the embellishments with a hammer (use a piece of fabric to avoid damaging the design) and clamp the hooks in the centre of each embellishment.
