These boxes were used throughout Europe to preserve salt, which was a precious raw material. The salt boxes were beautifully decorated by our ancestors in the early Middle Ages and my products try to continue this tradition.
A handmade Y-shaped boxe, made of deer antler with a shaped antler stopper and a locking pin made of brass + a hole to thread a string or a hanging ring made of metal.
The salt box is hollow inside - I hollow it all out first to form a cavity for sufficient salt. I sand the product by hand, cut out the ornament, colour it and then polish it.
In practice, I use these products as salt or spice shakers, but I would like to point out that they are not certified for food use and are therefore sold as decorative items.
In case you do not keep them just hanging on a ribbon as a decoration and use them at your discretion for the same purposes as our ancestors, I recommend to take care of the items as follows. Wash outdoor surfaces with water, or water with a common kitchen degreaser, do not dry near a direct heat source, do not put in the dishwasher, do not boil.
The product you see pictured here is illustrative as no two antlers are the same. I try to decorate the jar you receive the same with the shape in mind, I will be happy to send you an actual quote, email me here.
I sell the goods mainly on the stand and therefore I cannot guarantee that the straw is immediately in stock. So please allow up to 5 weeks for delivery. At the same time, I do not prevent additional modifications, patterns and symbols and inscriptions during individual production. Write to me.
