Its findings date back to the Bronze Age, and its beauty and versatility is not lost in today's world.
Torquis in Latin means to twist. These necklaces are often twisted. Gold, silver, bronze, iron and other metals were used to make them. At the same time, one can find richly decorated ones, sometimes plain, with a lock, hooks and crossed ends. Our type is put on like a horseshoe. Thanks to the braiding of the wires, it is beautifully flexible and although you will take it off often, its properties do not change.
These necklaces showed the owner's status and wealth by their flamboyance. They were worn by men and women, Celts, Romans, Vikings, heroes and warriors, and we know them from depictions of the gods. They were also a frequent sacrifice for the latter, which is why we still have pieces in museums today that weigh several kilograms.
The eyes of the ravens on the torques are made of a real mineral - almandine (Czech garnet) !!!!!
Our tip: Make yourself happy and create a set with a bracelet with the same ends with animal motifs.
