Whether you get our handmade needles in bone, antler, wood or brass, trust that we take the utmost care in shaving the material to make them fun to use so you can get on with whatever projects you want! However, you need to keep in mind that brass is a softer material than modern stainless steel needles and needs to be handled with a little more care. When making the needle, we tried to find a compromise between strength and at the same time a thinness that doesn't leave unsightly holes in the fabric. We have tried them in practice and our wool and linen costumes are sewing great with them.
