This beautiful needle case was made after a find in a Viking woman's grave on the island of Sweden. It dates from the 10th century. Needle cases were not only found on Gotland, but also in Birka and other Viking places. These needle cases were also very common throughout the Baltics.
They have also been found made of bone, antler and wood. Made of metal, it testifies to the wealth of the woman who wore this needle case.
I offer these needle cases cast in brass or silver-plated brass. The product contains a chain! Most needle boxes, like this one, were made from rolled sheet. Some were decorated, others more functional.
We recommend inserting wool or a strip of leather into the needle box. The needles can then be inserted and will not fall out again.
