Above the depiction of the Crucified is the christogram ICXC = Isus Christos.
The appearance of this cross gives the possibility that it was probably created outside of Great Moravia. Notice the expressive expression and long skirts with a hood similar to the style of dress of the time. It was found a few meters from the defunct basilica, possibly as a remnant of a stolen tomb of a nobleman.
Pope Benedict XVI also has a copy of it. The original is cast in silver.
