Description

Gnězdovo, a rich trade center in the Smolensk region (Russia) as a center of varagnes and Slavs in the 9th - 11th century, is interesting in that no cities were subsequently built in its place and therefore this locality is full of amazing finds.

The origin of this face pendant is probably in Scandinavia. It is believed that the mask was worn by peaceful people and warriors to intimidate enemies and gain protection from the highest forces in achieving their goals, whether it was victory in battle or growing crops.
