Description

The loop is used to stretch the leather belt - a strap that is used to hang the scabbard of the sword.

In the early Middle Ages, the wooden loop was attached directly to the inner - wooden construction of the sword scabbard, and then the entire scabbard was covered with leather or other material. However, if the loop was made of metal, then it was attached to the surface of the scabbard.

The scabbard with the sword is worn with a loop facing away from the body.

I have been drying the wood for these loops for several years and I select pieces for it with a beautiful drawing.

After cutting and polishing, I paint the loop with linseed oil and then beeswax. This makes the wood drawing stand out and at the same time the wood is protected.

In this variant, the sides are drilled through so that the surface is uninterrupted. The tying is done in the same way as in the picture, but the string passes through the handle and cannot slip.

The side holes allow the loop to be attached with a leather string to the sword scabbard.
