Description

Beautifully crafted brooch with a loop on the back, which serves to attach a ring chain as a divider or for a chain with beads. A larger wire loop can also be added, which is then sewn onto the fabric so that you don't lose the clasp and fasten it in the same place - recommended for example for a fixed position on the neckline of a dress to allow for breastfeeding etc.

Three-leaf clover brooches probably originally came from the Franks, where they had the function of dividing belts for swords or horse harnesses. Very soon they were also popular with the Vikings and brooches have been found in countless numbers, with their typical floral and animal motifs.

This brooch was part of women's clothing and was used to fasten a cloak or outer garment. It could be just a decoration, but also carry other jewellery, a hygiene kit and strings of beads. The fixed needle makes this possible without any problems :)
